We explore the ideas, issues and values of the world around us, developing student skill in reading and the working of language.
Our teachers deliver a consistent curriculum and differentiate to meet individual needs, allowing students to be confident in, and take responsibility for, their learning. By using data, (Victorian Curriculum levels, NAPLAN, PAT testing and Student feedback) we have a good understanding of the level our students are operating at and know too, their preferred learning styles. Students are able to track their own progression to engage more purposefully in their learning and we challenge them according to their abilities. Assessment is rigorous and students have access to assessment rubrics. This enables them to understand the demands of the task clearly and what is required to achieve a high standard. Increasingly we employ ICT to facilitate our teaching and learning. The principles by which we operate apply to both teachers and students. These are: respect for others, encouraging learning, effective organization, creative productivity and reflection.
